Your history project is probably long finished, and I apologize for not responding sooner to your question. Was on a road trip when your post came and since then, I've been struggling with getting the video files from La Paz and Sedona onto my hard drive and editing them.

I could not figure out how to use The Pixela Image Mixer software that came with the camera. A search online came up with only other frustrated users, most of whom eventually gave up.

I just bought Movie Studio HD ($29.99 at Costco) and I have not yet mastered it, but so far it appears to be much easier to use than Image Mixer.

Since this is my first foray into video, the learning curve is enormous. Apparently my challenges lie with the high definition, not the mode of getting it onto the computer.

I don't know what type of camcorder you have so I can't really answer your question. I sure hope someone was able to help you get the videos for your history project on time.

If you figured out something that is helpful, I hope you'll post it here!

How to put video files from a canon camcorder on the computer without using a flash card? I have a history project and we had to shoot things and I have a Canon camcorder. And I have the records on the camera, but I am clueless how to get it on my hard drive. The problem is with memory card, is there a way to put it on the memory card without puitting it on the computer prior? Or is there a way to get it on with out the flash card? It is very important to finish it sooner thank you very much!
